“Ho cominciato a disegnare le tavole di “Passeggiata” tra la fine del 2019 e l’inizio del 2020, l’idea era di realizzare una sequenza di disegni ispirati ai luoghi della città in cui vivo, Palermo. Il progetto non aveva grandi pretese, se non quello di raccontare il modo in cui ho visto la città e fare un’ode all’andare a spasso senza meta, al tempo speso senza lavorare. L’arrivo dell’emergenza coronavirus e la conseguente quarantena ha scombinato tutto, è cambiato completamente il rapporto tra stare in casa/uscire, la passeggiata è diventata quasi un tabù e l’atto stesso di uscire di casa per motivi non legati alla produttività è diventato qualcosa di osteggiato, sconsigliato e colpevolizzato, mentre la maggior parte delle persone si è trovata costretta a uscire per andare al lavoro e rischiare di contrarre il virus.

Mi sono ritrovato con dei disegni che sembravano quasi dei reperti archeologici…inoltre, poco tempo dopo, una fiammeggiante spinta di rivolta ha cominciato a scuotere gli U.S.A.

La storia che stavo raccontando doveva cambiare. Buona passeggiata e fuck the police.”

“I started drawing “Passeggiata” (Walk) boards between the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, the idea was to create a sequence of drawings inspired by the places of the city where I live, Palermo. The project had no great pretensions, except to tell the way I saw the city and make an ode to walking aimlessly, to the time spent without working. The arrival of the coronavirus emergency and the consequent quarantine has messed up everything, the staying-home / going out relationships has completely changed, the walk was almost a taboo and the very act of leaving home for reasons not related to productivity is became something opposed, discouraged and guilty, while most people were forced to go out to work and risk contracting the virus.

I found myself with drawings that looked almost like archaeological finds … also, shortly afterwards, a flamboyant push of revolt began to shake the U.S.

The story I was telling had to change.

Have a good walk and fuck the police.”
